A HEAVY RAIN ALERT IS NOW IN FORCE FOR THE ENTIRE FIJI GROUP.

Situation: An active trough of low pressure with cloud and rain gradually approaches Fiji from the west and is expected to affect the group from later Tuesday [30th Dec] until later Thursday [01st Jan].

Meanwhile, a moist north to northeast wind flow prevails over the country.

Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:

Cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls over most places.

Showers becoming frequent and increasing to rain from later tomorrow.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding over low lying and flood prone areas.

Moderate to fresh north to northeast winds, gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Wednesday : Occasional rain heavy at times and few thunderstorms over most places.

Persistent heavy falls may lead to flash flooding over low lying and flood prone areas.

Moderate to fresh northwest to northeast winds, gusty at times. Moderate to rough seas.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori :

Cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls.

Showers becoming frequent and increasing to rain from later tomorrow.
