Some notable names were missing from the Fiji Bati 2024 Pacific Championship squad that was announced due to suspension, injuries and personal commitments.

This was revealed by head coach Wise Kativerata who says these players will be considered for future assignments.

Reagan Campbell-Gillard is tied up with personal commitments after signing for the Gold Coast Titans from the Paramatta Eels, Daniel Saifiti has also sealed a new deal with the Dolphins and will have to move with his family from Newcastle while his twin brother, Jacob, is injured.

Also missing out is West Tigers hooker, Apisai Koroisau, due to a three-match suspension which means if he was named, he would miss out on all the Bati’s Pacific Championship games.

The national coach says St George Illawarra Dragons winger, Mikaele Ravalawa, will be tied up with his brother’s wedding next week.

Kativerata says Tigers fullback, Jahream Bula, is another player that’s unavailable this time around.

“With Jahream Bula, he’s going to get married on the 19th (October), but he got injured so the players are not coming in because they’re either recovering from injuries or have family movements or anything to do with family”.

Next Saturday, three games will be played at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva starting with a match between 2023 Vodafone Cup champs Saru Dragons and the winner of the same competition from Papua New Guinea.

Samoa and Tonga’s women’s teams will then play in the next match before the Bati face the PNG Kumuls to wrap up round one of the Pacific Bowl.
