The Fiji hockey team has made a clean sweep at the Pacific Games competition.
This comes after the men’s side defeated Papua New Guinea 3-2 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
Both teams were locked at nil-all at the end of normal time.
Head coach, Alsace Smith says that the players deserves the win.
They have been working hard and have sacrificed most of their times away from their loved ones as they were preparing for this outing.
“The boys were also tired and dehydrated throughout the tournament but they kept hydrating themselves, missing their families back home. As you can tell I have lost my voice from the screaming and shouting at the boys but I am so glad and give thanks to the Lord.”
Earlier today, our women’s side beat the hosts Solomon Islands 2-0 in the final.
Both team have now successfully defended the gold medal.
