From the Olympic Games opening ceremony to competing against one of the world’s best, the experience has been priceless for Team Fiji Table Tennis rep Vicky Wu.
Wu went down by four sets to Great Britain’s Liam Pitchford on Monday.
The former Yat Sen Secondary School student is the first Fijian man to qualify for the Olympics in Table Tennis.
He says this Olympics experience will certainly give him a boost at the Pacific Mini Games.
“The Olympic games is a once in a lifetime opportunity not many people get to experience this competition, the best of the best are competing in this event, it’s a surreal experience, hopefully, I can stay in the sport in the future the next major event is probably the Palau Mini Games, hope to represent Team Fiji and hopefully win a medal.”
The youngster made it to the Olympics after 11 years of playing table tennis.
Wu who won bronze at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games and 2019 Pacific Games is thankful to make it despite the challenges.
