Nadi hopeful to end BOG drought

Nadi is set to make a strong bid to end their 28-year title drought in the Battle of the Giant tournament this weekend.

The team last clinched the prestigious title in 1996 and has since been striving to reclaim the top spot.

The boys from the jet-set town have showcased impressive form in this year’s tournament, finishing at the top of Group B in the pool rounds.

Their performance has raised hopes among fans and set the stage for an exciting knockout phase as they aim to take the trophy back to Nadi.

Head coach, Raj Dayal, acknowledges the challenge that lies ahead as his team prepares for the crucial stages of the Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice Cream Battle of the Giant tournament.

“Areas of improvement will be ball work and fitness is number one. We’ll be working on the fitness level of the players as well as the ball work. The team is amazing.”

The semifinals will be played at the HFC Bank Stadium this Saturday.

Lautoka will face Rewa in the first semifinal at 2pm and Nadi will face Suva in the second one at 4.30pm.
