The Suva City Council has returned the waste management assets to the Nasinu Town Council, which will enable them to better serve its ratepayers.

Nasinu Town Council Special Administrators Chair Felix Magnus says that they look forward to working with SCC to improve the waste management services in their respective municipalities.

Magnus highlights that under the previous administration, the waste collection trucks from Nasinu were relocated to SCC without any clear reason.

“We really can’t find out why our trucks were given to SCC or why SCC had to look after waste management in Nasinu when we were doing quite well at that time. Nasinu Town Council is one of the cleanest towns, and we have received awards for that as well, so this marks an important day as our trucks are being returned.”

Magnus says that with Nasinu being one of the most populated municipalities, these assets will assist them in improving services.

He adds that solid waste management is an evolving concern that needs constant review and improvement.

Magnus says that these waste management trucks are an essential tool in creating a more organized, hygienic, and sustainable waste management system for the Nasinu municipality.
