Minister for iTaukei Affairs Ifereimi Vasu urged resource owners to move away from the traditional “Vakavanua” business approach.

Speaking at the closing of the 2nd National Resource Owners Forum, Vasu highlights its inconsistency in sustaining iTaukei businesses.

He emphasized the importance of seeking financial opportunities, partnerships, and joint ventures to strengthen and stabilize their business ventures.

“We have seen the openings available for the iTaukei natural resource owners, utilize them. This is the only opportunity that can help us with business sustainability.”

He noted that the two-day forum brought together landowners, resource owners, relevant ministries, and financial institutions to create pathways for income-generating activities.

Vasu also called on iaTaukei institutions, ministries, and other entities to provide the necessary support to help resource owners succeed in their business endeavours.
