It is understood that Puleiwai handed in her resignation following a meeting with the Judicial Services Commission yesterday afternoon.

Puleiwai was appointed the Acting Deputy Commissioner in December last year.

FBC News understands that Puleiwai’s resignation comes following what transpired earlier yesterday where FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali was taken in for questioning on the first day in the office.

Malimali was questioned in relation to allegation of abuse of office.

However she was questioned and released around mid-day yesterday.

Following that it was also revealed that Puleiwai wanted to sanction charges against the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Biman Prasad.

Puleiwai had earlier today written a letter to the Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga where it’s stated that FICAC is looking at laying charges against Prasad in relation to a complaint against him dealing with his asset, income and liabilities declaration.

However later in the afternoon when questioned by FBC News, Puleiwai stated that this was on hold now as instructed by Commissioner Barbara Malimali.
