Society sets sights on $150,000 goal

The Fiji Cancer Society has announced ambitious plans for this Cancer Awareness Month.

Speaking on FBC TV’s Saqamoli Matters, Society Advocate Sera Maca states they aim to raise $150,000 to support a growing number of patients in need.

She says that their outreach efforts extend beyond awareness, as they conduct home visitations from Monday to Thursday each week.

Maca emphasizes that cancer is not confined to October; it affects people throughout the year.

“We’ve decided to put awareness into action because we feel like its important that once you get our messages, you’re able to put it into action that could possibly reduce your risk.”

Breast cancer survivor Miri Rasova reiterates the importance of early breast cancer testing.

“For you to put into action what awareness program that they have been conducting and ways in which we can help reduce cancer cases in Fiji right now as Sera has mentioned already,its the third highest killer in Fiji.”

The Society is encouraging the public to plan screenings and awareness events at any time of the year, emphasizing that they are ready to provide support and assistance whenever needed.
