Handicraft business regains balance in Savusavu

After the devastating effects of COVID-19 on small and medium enterprises, handicraft businesses are thriving again in Savusavu Town.

The global pandemic halted operations at the Savusavu Market Handicraft Centre, but it has regained its balance as the national economy recovers.

Vendor, Asenaca Luisa says the increase in arrival of tourists has had a positive impact on their operations.

“Also, because we are in the festive season in which both local and overseas customers visit our shores and would eventually utilize our products and services. It boosts our sales and revenue.”

Luisa says they had to face a myriad of challenges, but they were able to overcome it with support from the government and stakeholders.

She says they anticipate further ease in business with an improved facility.

Eight women operate their handicraft businesses at the temporary Savusavu Market Handicraft Centre, but the number is expected to grow with a larger space that will be provided in the new Savusavu Market.
