Fiji is intensifying its push to become the Pacific’s leading digital outsourcing hub, with the government unveiling plans for a major Business Process Outsourcing infrastructure project and renewed efforts to strengthen industry collaboration.

In a meeting with the Executive Director of Outsource Fiji, Joseva Wivou, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica discussed the strategic direction of the country’s growing BPO industry.

Elaborating on Fiji’s vision for the sector, DPM Kamikamica highlighted the planned development of a new BPO Hub at the Kalabu Tax Free Zone described as a “BPO village.”

The facility is expected to be a one-stop digital center offering high-speed connectivity, lifestyle amenities, and support infrastructure.

The meeting also reviewed progress since the recent Annual General Meeting of the BPO Council, which marked a change in leadership and a renewed drive to expand membership and unify the sector.

Currently, Fiji is home to around eight active BPO operators.

However, industry leaders aim to more than double that number in the coming years.

DPM Kamikamica reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the sector, stating that the growth of BPO is vital to fulfilling the National Digital Strategy and creating meaningful employment opportunities for youth.
