Fiji and Japan strengthen tourism ties

The Government through the Ministry of Tourism has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Japan Tourism Agency of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

The MoC signed aims to enhance bilateral collaboration in the tourism sector between the two nations, ensuring sustainable growth and resilience.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka says the MoC will support initiatives that provide technical expertise, training, capacity building, and resource-sharing, which are crucial for developing resilient tourism industries in both countries.

He says that Fiji and Japan share a deep and abiding belief in the power and potential of the tourism industry.

DPM Gavoka further extended the support of the government of Fiji to Japan in areas such as aviation and disaster preparedness.

He adds that the MoC also reaffirms the long-standing relationship between the two nations, dating back to 1970.
