Employers should encourage an atmosphere of speaking up on any issues of concern in the workplace.

This was highlighted by the Chief Executive Officer for Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation Kameli Batiweti during the 2023 World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

Batiweti says the employer should even reward employees for speaking up.

“We Fijian should get that out of our system that nobody is allowed to speak up because you have every right to speak up with reasons and be respectful as you speak up. don’t go and blast it out in social media because you can get in trouble for that. bring it up to your manager so there is a grievance procedure that its place in every company.”
