Dane Princess expresses gratitude

The Crown Princess of Denmark, Mary Elizabeth, says her visit demonstrates the friendship between the two nations.

Princess Mary, who arrived in the country yesterday, was accorded a welcome ceremony this morning.

She says the hospitality accorded to her is overwhelming.

“It’s a feeling of being welcomed in a completely different way that I’ve ever experienced, and I must say I feel very welcome and very blessed to be in your country and look forward to the coming days here together with you all.”

Princess Marry visited Vanuatu before heading to Fiji, and her next stop will be Australia.

Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica says the visit is a significant one.

“It’s a pleasure for the Government of Fiji, and the visit is not an official visit, but still, it’s a pleasure that she is here.”

Crown Princess Mary has been patron of the United Nations Population Fund since 2010.

She advocates for health, gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls.

Her royal visit also coincides with the United Nations Population Fund Executive Director, Dr. Natalia Kanem’s, official mission to Fiji.
