Committee to coordinate Indian President’s visit

An Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee has been established to coordinate President of India Droupadi Murmu’s official visit to Fiji.

The cabinet was briefed on the official visit of the Indian President to Fiji from August 5th to the 7th.

The Committee will ensure that each element of the programme is planned and executed as per expected standards.

This will be the first time for an Indian Head of State to visit Fiji.

During the visit, the Murmu is expected to sign an agreement on the proposed sites for the construction of a new Indian Chancery, cultural center, and staff residence, as well as the 100-Bed Super Specialty Hospital in Suva.

Droupadi Murmu is India’s 15th President following her successful presidential election in 2022 as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
