Ali says that Fiji will share its knowledge and expertise with other countries in the region to promote gender equality, equity, and women’s rights.
The FWCC coordinator highlights collaboration as a key to addressing violence against women and girls, which remains a concern for the region.
“This is very important because this is about ending all forms of violence against women and girls, which is at pandemic levels in our region, and it really impacts women’s human rights, the advancement of women’s human rights and girls’ human rights, and so on.”
Ali adds that statistics in the region indicate an urgent need for immediate action to combat such social ills.
Forty-two participants from the region are attending the 44th Regional Training Program on Gender, Violence against Women and Girls, Human Rights, and Development, organized by the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre, running for four weeks.
