This year, they have taken a significant step by organizing the first-ever women cane farmers workshop, which is already empowering female farmers with valuable insights and knowledge.

“We are planning to cover all the technologies, best management practices pertaining to sugarcane farming so that we can enrich and empower our women farmers.”

Professor Santiago highlights the remarkable contributions of women in the agriculture sector, emphasizing their capability and resilience.

The successful launch of the workshop for women cane farmers in the Northern Division serves as a model for their future plans.

Similar workshops are slated to reach 30 women farmers in Lautoka, Ba, Sigatoka, and Nadi, contributing to a more inclusive and empowered sugarcane farming community.
