The government’s plans to identify potential sites for an international airport in Vanua Levu were a central focus during a recent visit by Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka.
An international airport is expected to improve connectivity to the North, unlocking new opportunities for tourism growth and economic development.
Other projects inspected included a site envisioned to replicate the success of Denarau, aimed at boosting tourism infrastructure and services.
The Nawi Mariner, another highlight is set to attract luxury vessels and expand marine-based tourism activities, solidifying Vanua Levu’s appeal to high-end travelers.
The planned developments are expected to generate jobs, draw investments and drive local business growth.
This will also contribute to the Ministry’s broader vision of inclusive and sustainable regional development.
These initiatives aim to transform Vanua Levu into a premier tourism destination, creating long-term economic benefits for its communities.
