Permanent Secretary for Civil Service Parmesh Chand emphasized the Ministry’s professionalism and promising career opportunities.
He highlighted this at the Mini Careers Expo in Suva yesterday.
Chand noted the timeliness of the expo as students are on break and recent graduates seek workforce entry.

Chand stated that while larger ministries have more vacancies than smaller ones, the Ministry of Civil Service establishes policies, while individual ministries handle their own recruitment.
“The Ministry of Civil Service is largely the facilitator and a catalyst in this process; we do the policy guidelines and we are the facilitators, but individual ministries will hire their own graduate trainees and, for that matter, the interns.”
He also says that this mini-expo complements the graduate and internship programs that the ministry launched in September.
Chand’s advice for interested applicants is that the civil service is highly professional and that there are a whole range of opportunities, from climate change to health to finance to agriculture, to name a few.
The Ministry of Civil Service is also planning on going to the different universities next year.
