Former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in court today.

Defense lawyer for former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and suspended Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho, Devanesh Sharma will file a reply to the State’s submissions tomorrow.

This as the State today filed its response to the submission made by Sharma last week.

Magistrate Seini Puamau by consent says that both Sharma and state lawyer David Toganivalu will have to make oral submissions on Wednesday at 2.30pm.

Sharma made a number of arguments last Wednesday while filing for no case to answer after the prosecution called in nine witnesses.

Meanwhile, Puamau also says she has received a copy of submission by the state.

She says she has not gone through it.

The case will be called again on Wednesday.

The matter is in relation to a charge against Bainimarama of one count of attempting to pervert the course of justice, while Qiliho is charged with a count of abuse of office.

The charges stem from a complaint filed in July 2019 pertaining to the conduct of former staff members.
