Taniela Sadrugu, a former representative of Fiji’s 7s and Bati rugby league teams, has successfully transitioned to the realm of rugby union.
The French rugby club CA Brive recently unveiled their acquisition of Sadrugu, securing his services for the upcoming two years.
Consequently, this decision marks the departure of the 24-year-old from the NRL club, North Queensland Cowboys, where he had been a member since 2021 and had earned his promotion to the club’s elite roster of top 30 players just last year.
Sadrugu’s arrival at the CA Brive club took place yesterday, signifying the commencement of his new chapter within Pro D2 rugby.
Acknowledging his versatile skill set, Brive Sports Manager Patrice Collazo emphasized that Sadrugu possesses a hybrid profile, characterized by both power and speed when in possession of the ball.
Collazo further expressed that Sadrugu’s inclusion would significantly reinforce their third-row position.
In addition to his exploits in rugby union, Sadrugu’s achievements span the rugby league arena as well.
He was named the Suva rugby player of the year in 2020 and notably contributed to Fiji Bati’s Rugby League World Cup squad in 2022.
Despite their spirited efforts, the team exited the competition during the quarter-final stage.
With this exciting move to French rugby and the esteemed CA Brive club, Taniela Sadrugu embarks on a fresh journey, showcasing his talents and embracing new challenges on the rugby field.
